B.G. Net Worth 2024

How much money does B.G. have?

B.G. is a rapper from America, and he has around $200,000. B.G.'s real name is Baby Gansta, and he got signed by Birdman's Cash Money Records when he was just 12 years old, in 1993. Later, in 1997, he formed a rap group called the Hot Boys with Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk. They helped make Southern hip-hop music popular and introduced the "bounce" style, which is closely linked to rap from New Orleans. However, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk left both the Hot Boys and Cash Money in 2001 because they had money disagreements with the record label. Even though the group technically made three albums together, their last one, "Let 'Em Burn," came out in 2003, two years after they split up. B.G. has also released many solo albums and songs that have been successful. One of his most famous songs is "Bling Bling" from 1999, which reached #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and made the term "bling bling" famous in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Early Life

B.G. was born Christopher Noel Dorsey on September 3, 1980, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in the Freret neighborhood, where he faced tough situations on the streets. His dad wasn't around much, and when Christopher was 12, his dad got killed during a robbery attempt. Despite all this, Christopher found comfort in music. He started rapping when he was 12, using the name "Lil Doogie" at first. During this time, he met Lil Wayne, who was also known as "Baby D" back then. Lil Wayne would later become his good friend and someone he often worked with.

The Hot Boys

In 1993, Chris met Bryan "Baby" Williams at a barbershop. Williams, who is now known as Birdman, started the rap label Cash Money Records with his brother Ronald "Slim" Williams. Chris, now called "B.G.," and Lil Wayne were both signed to Cash Money Records. They first performed together as a rap duo called The B.G.'z.

In 1996, B.G. released his first solo album, "Chopper City." Then, in 1997, he released two more albums, "It's All on U, Vol. 1" and "Vol. 2."

That same year, B.G., Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Young Turk formed the rap group the Hot Boys. Their first album, "Get It How U Live!," came out in October 1997 and sold 400,000 copies. In 1999, they released "Guerrilla Warfare," which went platinum and had hit singles like "I Need A Hot Girl" and "We On Fire."

The Hot Boys broke up in 2001 because B.G., Juvenile, and Turk left Cash Money due to money problems. Even though their third album, "Let 'Em Burn," was recorded while they were still together, it didn't come out until two years after they split.

As of now, it's been over 20 years since the group has had a reunion. Turk went to jail for attempted murder in 2006 but was released in 2012. B.G. got sentenced to jail for gun possession and witness tampering in 2012, right when Turk got out.

Bling Bling

On April 20, 1999, B.G. put out his fourth album, "Chopper City in the Ghetto." It sold 140,000 copies in the first week and became a huge hit, eventually going multi-platinum. The song "Bling Bling" from this album was a big part of its success. It made it to #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a popular phrase in culture. "Bling Bling" even got added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2003.

After that, B.G. released many more albums, but none reached the same level of success as "Chopper City in the Ghetto."

Legal Issues

In November 2009, B.G. got arrested in Covington, Louisiana, when the police stopped his Chevrolet Tahoe for a regular check. During a search of his car, the police found three guns, two of which were reported stolen. They also found two gun clips, magazines, and illegal drugs. Later on, he was accused of tampering with a witness. He got sentenced to 14 years in federal prison in July 2012. After serving 11 years, he was released in September 2023. At first, he stayed in a halfway house, and he's set to be fully released in July 2024. When he got out in 2023, Birdman welcomed him back.
